The objective of the Follow App project is to set-up and test a graduate tracking method supported by digital tools designed to track employment and career progression of apprentices in DUAL VET programmes, addressed to VET teachers, counsellors, in-company trainers and learners, improving the responsiveness of VET to the changing demands in the labour market and strengthening the Quality Assurance in VET.
As work is ongoing on the project, INQS has recently been investigating best practices in the area of graduate tracking of apprentices in DUAL VET
One fantastic example of a resource to check out in this area is CareersPortal.ie. CareersPortal.ie is Ireland’s National Career Guidance website, providing the most up-to-date and relevant career information and resources to those needing or providing career guidance as well as graduate tracking tools and processes. Careers Portal provides a range of linked self-assessment tools and online courses, as well as links to relevant resources and application points around both job seeking and graduate tracking.
The overall process for careers portal is intuitive and straightforward and despite the large range of tools, is relatively clear. This makes the process of using the system clear and appealing to users. An additional key success factor is the process of data-gathering which informs decisions. By seeking user information, follow-on results and tracking are used to recommend a series of potential career or education options to the user.
