The objective of the Follow App project is to set-up and test a graduate tracking method supported by digital tools designed to track employment and career progression of apprentices in DUAL VET programmes, addressed to VET teachers, counsellors, in-company trainers and learners, improving the responsiveness of VET to the changing demands in the labour market and strengthening the Quality Assurance in VET.
As work is ongoing on the project, INQS has recently been investigating European resources focused on the area of graduate tracking in order to better understand the area and the range of available resources and research in this space.
One such resource is the European Commissions “Mapping of VET graduate tracking measures in EU Member States” developed in 2018.
This is an excellent, comprehensive and systematic review of graduate tracking in EU member states. Its intention is the continued renewal of Vocational Education and Training (VET) to ensure continued quality and labour-market relevance.
The report outlines graduate tracking measures currently used in EU Member States for VET and highlights that that some countries do not have measures, others do not have regular measures and that many measures use either administrative data or survey data. As a conclusion section, teh study recommends that the Commission provide support or incentives to the creation or further development of good quality measures at national, regional or provider level – which is very much the ethos of the Follow App project.
