Virdual Project – Press Release

VIRDUAL Project Successfully Finalises Its Results and Strengthens Digital Innovation in VET Through XR Technologies

The European project VIRDUAL – Boosting digital innovation in VET by integrating Extended Reality to train work-readiness skills for Work-Based Learning programmes – has successfully finalised its main project results after 30 months of international cooperation among organisations from Italy, Spain, Greece, Türkiye, Cyprus, Germany and Ireland.

The project aimed to support vocational education and training (VET) providers, teachers and in-company trainers in the use of Extended Reality (XR) technologies and innovative digital pedagogies to improve work-readiness skills in Work-Based Learning (WBL) contexts.

Among the main results developed by the partnership are:

  • A training curriculum on work-readiness skills through XR
  • A Learning Units Plan
  • The VIRDUAL e-Learning Campus
  • An Instructional Web App and online learning activities
  • Recommendations for validation and certification of competences

In March 2026, the project consortium gathered in Pavia, Italy, for the VIRDUAL International Conference hosted by Centro Servizi Formazione (CSF). The conference brought together partners, VET professionals, institutional stakeholders and learners to present the project achievements and discuss the future of immersive learning technologies in vocational education.

Following the international conference, national multiplier events were organised in Cyprus, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Spain and Türkiye. These events focused on the practical use of the VIRDUAL results and allowed participants to test the e-Learning Campus and the Instructional Web App through demonstrations and workshops.

The multiplier events confirmed the strong interest of VET providers and educational stakeholders in integrating XR technologies into teaching and training practices. Participants highlighted the practical value, accessibility and transferability of the VIRDUAL tools in different national and educational contexts.

The VIRDUAL partnership will continue promoting the sustainability and exploitation of the project results through European cooperation networks, dissemination activities and the open access availability of the developed tools and resources.
